Friendship Kids
In order to have better management for our Children's Sunday School, please be sure to fill out the Registration Form for each of your children, so that we will have the most up to date information about your child. If you prefer to fill out hard copies, please ask one of the teachers/teaching assistants on Sundays.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Vision and Mission
We seek to help children know Jesus personally and grow in Him, in order that they will glorify God by living gospel-centered lives at home, in their communities, and beyond.
Beliefs
● We believe that children are God’s blessing. They are both beautiful, being made in the image of God, and also broken like all humanity, unable to do good to please God and avoid wrongdoing. Like all humanity, they are in need of the gospel – the saving grace and love of Jesus Christ.
● We believe that children are able to grow spiritually as their understanding of the gospel and the realization of it deepens.
● We believe that family is the primary environment where children are spiritually nurtured. Parents are the primary disciplers of children. FPC and its children’s ministry are committed to supporting parents in the nurturing and discipling of their children.
● We believe that both parents and volunteers in the Children’s Ministry are flawed persons who are nevertheless commissioned by God to be instrumental for the spiritual growth of other flawed persons, the children.
● We believe that God knows the challenges of discipling children. He meets us with help and provision of all that is needed in any situation by and with His grace.
All children are encouraged to join their families in the worship service from 11:00 am until they are dismissed to go to their classes before the start of the sermon. We have a volunteer staffed nursery for children up to the age of 2.5.
Children’s Program
All children join with their families in the worship service at 11:30 am, then are dismissed to go to their classes before the start of the sermon.
We have a volunteer-staffed nursery for children up to the age of 2.5 years, a Kindi class for children 2.5 to 5 years of age, a Primary class for children aged from grades 1 to 3, and a Junior class for children aged from grades 4 to 6.
Parents of kindi kids can check-in their child in the A3 Meeting Room and pick them up at the conclusion of the service.
Children who are in Primary and Junior classes will meet in A4 Meeting room and church office respectively. As children are dismissed to join their classes, teachers are at the lobby (outside the sanctuary) to meet the children and escort them to their classes.
youth
Children in grades 7-12 remain with the congregation for the duration of the service. Follow the announcements at the end of each service (and in the bulletin) for information about periodic youth events.
curriculum
We use Lifeway’s The Gospel Project for Kids curriculum. The Gospel Project is a Christ-centered Bible study resource that looks at the big picture of God's story, the story of redemption through Jesus Christ. Each week, kids of all ages will follow a chronological timeline of Bible events, all the while learning how each story points to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our desire to see transformation of life through the gospel as children see how the gospel is present in the entire Bible, “not just a collection of stories, but one unified story — God’s story of redemption.”
